Who ya gonna call? GHOST-WRITER !!

As Anya Peters (and that's not her real name, folks) forthcoming book has been ghost written by Andrew Crofts, Anya's Sicko-Fants might be interested in who this dude is.

After all, surely he must be sympathetic to homeless folks to have taken on the assignment. A quick sneaky peeky at his website indicates that he does indeed have "form". Curiously though, I couldn't see much evidence of his work with homeless folks. Tellingly he does confess that it does not take him that long to write someone's book. for them. "We sit down with a tape recorder and I try and get twenty to 30 hours of information on tape. Then..... I have the book" So just what is Anya doing these days? What is it that's keeping her from updating her blog seeing as how Andrew must have all the info he needs by now? Perhaps lots of meetings with her publishers and agent about her forthcoming book tour. Maybe discussions about how to maximise publicity by accentuating her blog? Who knows.... Meanwhile Poor Andrew must be slaving away over Anya's book. I guess it will be a change for him after ghost writing for so many other folks. A chance to put the perspective of a homeless person. After all, Harper Collins will be using (is that the right word?) "numerous homeless charities and the Big Issue magazine to promote, market and distribute the book". And all to support Anya in the manner to which she has become accustomed to..... (oh go on then, we'll throw a few bob at the homeless folks if you insist). But what of poor Andrew, slaving away to bring us the story of a poor Anya Peters as she struggled to come to terms with homelessness. After all, it was homelessness that was the reason for creating the Anya Peters blog in the first place, remember?

So as Andrew slaves away, adding his own personal spin on the story of homelessness, lets take a quick stroll down (Andrew's') memory lane about some of the books he has ghostwritten in the past.....

For imstance, there was The Little Prisoner. This is the true story of a girl who was dominated, bullied and sexually abused by her stepfather..... Then there was Please, Daddy, No. The tragic story of an abused boy ...... Let's not foget The Kid. This moving story of an abused boy,........ Hmmm..... Is it just me or can anyone see a formula appearing here .......... Of course, that fact that there was no mention of abuse on Anyas' blog till she had the book deal and the ghostwriter was commissioned must be purely coincidental. Makes you think though .......... (Obviously this last sentence does not apply to Anya Sicko-fants ).

So why is she SCRIBBLING AWAY FURIOUSLY??!!! Is she writing another AUTOBIOGRAPHY? How I conned the HARDWORKING?

Perhaps she's going to night classes to learn how to be a better writer.
Or just furiously writing cheques as she spends her day buying new outfits for the forthcoming promotional tours.

The news that she isn't the (sole) author must surely indicate that she will turn out to be a one hit wonder as her story IS the story.
Once it's told there'll be no interest in the pap that she turns out alone .......

Still here...

Just checking in to say hello and to let everyone know I am still here and well and scribbling away furiously. Every time I put my pen down I keep thinking of the laneway - of how contorted my body was sleeping scrunched up there in the car night after night, of how much fear and pain was in it, and of how I don't ever want to end up anywhere like that again. If there's anything to drive you on it's that, not wanting to go back to where you once were.

This won't last long though, then time will be my own again.

Ho hum ....

More meaningless dribble with not a word about what she's really doing.
Looks like it's just a stop gap post (in between all the other stop gaps posts) to keep any readership she has left still coming back.
Let's not forget the unsubstantiated claim by Harper Collins that her site gets 11,000 readers a week.
Yeah, right !!

For the last 7 weeks, 11,000 people have logged on to see there have been no updates but they continue to come back?
Surely optimistic marketing at its best !!

It's a good job this blog is here to let folks really know what's going on.
The ghost writer, the proposed book promotional tours, serialisation in mags, using The Big Issue to promote her book etc.

Isn't it strange that Anya doesn't mention any of this on her blog.
Not a peep !!

Maybe it's because it doesn't fit in with the image she is still desperately trying to portray.
The image of a poor victim, all alone in the world.
Rather than the reality of meetings with publishers, agents, tour organisers etc....
But anybody just reading her blog alone would be under the impression that the poor dear is still suffering.
Harping on about being scrunched up in her car when in reality that was months ago.
Tell us about the 5 star hotel rooms you'll be staying in on your tour whilst you promote the book, Anya (no doubt still wrapped in towels because of the cold).

Or has it been so long since you posted any truthful facts that the ability is lost to you .....

"Harping on about being scrunched up in her car when in reality that was months ago."

The reality is she probably only did that one night for "research."
Whoever Anya Peters is, she's a muppet.

I think the whole thing is fake, a clever marketing campaign dreamed up by Harper Collins. What would be the point in having a "true story" about a person under a pseudonym, written by a ghostwriter? It's a ghost writing about a fake. The premise of "Anya's" blog was that she had "written her way out of her homelessness", but this is an utter fabrication, as her entire story is written by someone else posing as her - or not even her as it's a pseudonym.

Why? Because there is no "her", it's a marketing campaign from start to finish. I just wonder if the BBC knew it all along but thought it would still draw in readers or whether they were fooled as well.

The use of charities as a marketing tool though is very twisted.

I tried emailing her/him/whoever yesterday asking about the ghostwriter business. No response. I'm wondering if any laws have been broken, maybe the police should be involved? That wretched Pay Pal button will be "her" downfall... I can't see this being a "normal" book release what with all this corruption going on. What a shambles.

It's just a clever (or so they thought) guerilla marketing tactic dreamed up by Harper Collins. "Let's use a blog to make it look like the author is talking directly to her readers, it'll be like an interactive book and readers will feel a special link with the author, so they will buy the book".

Although there isn't really an author because "Anya Peters" doesn't exist and we know the book is ghost written by a well known misery memoir ghostwriter.

The whole point of the book deal was the "miracle" of a "brave homeless woman" who was nevertheless able to "speak to the people" and make them feel sympathetic "writing herself out" of her terrible situation by having her "amazing writing skills" picked up by a publisher.

However, that's obviously not the case and so we can only confirm that the blog is a fake.

The BBC should be ashamed of themselves for either being taken in or for publishing what they knew to be a fake, so they could get readers too.

Just for the record , Andrew Crofts has ghostwritten many good novels such as "Sold" in which two English girls were sold to men in the Yemen .
