The Unknown Phenomenon

I was doing a bit of wandering myself today around the fair city of Cardiff and stopped for a bit of Welsh Bread and a cup of char in a local cafĂ©. Being a friendly sort, I started a conversation with a chap on the next table, eager to gain the views of the ordinary man on the street about the literary phenomenon known as Wanderingscribe. Imagine my disbelief when he said "Who?" Obviously he must have just been rescued after some obscure pit cave in and had spent the previous 4 months underground. However..... I asked another person in Waterstones about the forthcoming epic novel by WS and she also said "Who?" How is it possible that there are people in the world who have been deprived of the words of wisdom that fall like manna from heaven onto our PC screens courtesy of WS? So off I went to check on the posts and comments on her site and I made a startling discovery. Not including anonymous posts (cus I suspect quite a few have been made by WS herself to "boost the figures"), no more than approx. 40 people have heard of Wanderingscribe. In the World !! The facts (as usual) are there for you to check out if you so desire. Looks like those Book Sales may not quite reach the dizzy heights of triple figures for quite a while yet. At least she’ll have a baby named after her though, according to her latest ardent fan (See Below) But I suspect that Dark Forces are at work here in an attempt to see just how wacky and zany a post they can get past the eagle eye of the moderator in the name of false praise. Do you believe it? Really and truly? If so then I have some Snake Oil going cheap ……….. Wanderingscribe's Tribute Baby A comment posted on 25th May is worthy of a mention here (before she "susses" it and/or it gets deleted). R & C said... Scribe, We have decided to call our unborn daughter Anya Scribe-Jones. She's due in 2 weeks time. Bless you and your lovely blog. Rory & Claire Jones PS Theres always a welcome in Bristol for you. Priceless. :) I almost expected it to be signed "John and Jane Doe".

You are really ugly! droopy eyes and thin, flappy lips.

You should really concentrate on taking care of yourself instead of writing malicious things about people. That makes you even more ugly... in spirit, you know?

So what, who really gives a shit if it's true... maybe it is and maybe it isn't. But it could be - we are all just an inch from homelessness - and anyway way her blog IS written well! So kudos to her!!!

You need to find something more positivly, constructive to do with yourself... Really! It wouldn't even so bad if you could vent your anger well, creatively descriptive but it just seems like whining, babbling, tattle-tale! WITHOUT OUT A DOUBT YOU WILL NOT BE OFFERED A BOOK DEAL - REAL OR OTHERWISE!

tut-tut!

Of course the baby naming is a spoof! I posted it myself. To see if the idiot would post it? And like a mug she did.

No Book Deal ?!?
Say it ain't so !!

Ths anonymous post serves as an eloquent rminder of how people get sucked into the whole business of WS and believe anything they read on the internet.

Ya gota laugh though ..........

I cannot believe people actually think she is a great writer!
It's contrived, forced, self-indulgent, unbelievable, dishonest, unsympathetic. It's tautological hyperbole, it's nonsense - there's no structure, narrative, compassion, insight, characterisation.
It's laden with heavy-handed imagery and tired metaphors and similes. Need I go on?

All in all I'd say it's agonisingly bad.

Note to publishers and agents - I know lots of words as well and have a car - can I get a book deal now please?!

I don't believe everything I read, hence the reason I'm questioning you WnderingEgo... I didn't believe the photo was of you, but that IS how youhave chosen to represent yourself!

You are bully and encourage others to do it too! Imagine r&c scampering to and fro to tattle-tell on the mischief they have done!

Who's to say that you are real 'WonderingEgo'? who is asking if your intentions are good!? You sound angry... and bored.

Why is WanderingScribe's blog eating at you so? Do you really care if it's a spoof or are you jealous that you didn't think of such a great scam yourself? If it is indeed a scam at all!

You really have too much time in your hands! Anyways, I don't, so have to go now, but have a great day... all of you!

Amen to that!

Why so desperate to protect someone you don't even know, yet profess to worship?
One would almost think you were actually wanderingscribe in disguise.....

Up your cunt!

No, I never said that was alright. All I said was just state fact without all the bitching!

Whatever that it is your saying gets lost in that. It makes all who do part take even less credible! State your facts and leave people to make up their minds!

Two wrongs, never did make a right! And there's a lot more negative than positive that comes from all that back-biting - It's just not good!

Thanks I will have a good day cheers! :)

Anonymous - i think the great thing about blogging is the fact that you can pick something up and parody it, criticise it or indeed praise it. That's the wonderful thing about the internet - it's an instant reply and as I happen to side with detractors I enjoy reading their blogs. I would say the attempts of WS suporters to shut down these blogs and their vitriolic reaction to other who commented negatively is bullying also and I'm sorry but anything in the public domain is fair game. it's free speech - enjoy it!
If I was WS I'd be reading these to learn what people had to say about my writing and learn from it.

In respect of the homelessness issue - I think if she is not homeless it is extremely exploitative and crass. If you have always dismissed the homeless in the past then shame on you. I wouldn't publicly claim to have had your eyes opened by something as cycnically emotive as WS.

The vast majority of homeless people are on the streets (yes, on the streets not laneways) because of a history of mental illness or drug and alcohol problems usually as a result of some sort of abuse - not because they're waiting for a publishing deal. Perhaps WS has an addiction to getting published I don't know but I think her story has undremined the real human tragedy of homelessness.

I'll sign of now as I also have some work to do - ironically with the type of group WS purports to be a member of.

But for now to all my fellow tormentors of WS

((((HUGS))))

I'm not going to take sides on this issue, I'm skeptical enough to realize the whole thing could be a sham. And I admit, the paypal donation thing gets under my skin, a bit. Even if she really is homeless.

But let me just say one thing.

Kitneil... did you just say "tautological hyperbole"? What the fuck? Do you even know what a tautology is? For that matter, do you know what a hyperbole is?

Ok ThirdEye,

I don't know what to say to that. You can ask a question, but not always will you get an answer.

But if this concern is genuine, then just state the facts as I've said before. I found my way here... I have choices and I make good use of them. I am not stupid and nor have I been rude. (DO you really think that I believed the photo was real? No I didn't, if I had done I wouldn't have made that comment). But what is really ugly is the tactics going on here!

WanderingEgo and her fellowship shouldn't go around terrorising other peoples blogs! That just isn't right... below the belt!

Say what you have to say, speech is free - True!? So why don't we use it to find solutions to the problems of homelessness and such - situations that we could all face if the cards went against us. You are actually hyping it up really! not defending or decrediting anything... just hyping it with negative frenzy!

What does this sniding achieve? not shame on me, shame on you all!

Shame on us? This from a coward who hides behind anonimity, and demands that anything posted should be how he/she/it dictates?
WS is a con merchant, and has stolen money that, with the best intentions it has to be said, several fools provided, thinking it would go to help someone in need, someone truely homeless and desperate, not some pompous cretin who is so far up their own arse, that they haven't seen daylight in months, to further their it's vision of being an author!

Also, all this talk about her/him/it being a talented writer, did you or the rest of it's followers ever read anything past 'Janet & John'?

Am I saying shame on you? No, rather, fuck you.

Up your cunt!

Square circle - Are you American? Do you know what irony is?

Wobbling scruffbag - I like your style.

Janet and John - that's just made my day!

Oh crikey just read the latest, it's put me right off my dinner.

The most interesting post I think is rhubarb - it's also probably the most insightful as it's the most honest thing she's written and was in reposne to the first deluge of criticism.
